Rapid Transit Projects

A SkyTrain running on rail against a clear evening sky

Rapid Transit features high-capacity vehicles, priority over general traffic, and service that goes beyond what is achieved with conventional transit.

Metro Vancouver's rapid transit system currently includes the Rail Rapid Transit (RTT) Expo, Millennium, and Canada Lines.

There are two other forms of rapid transit that are being explored to meet the region’s diverse transportation needs: Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and gondola.

SkyTrain Expansion Program

Infrastructure investments that will make our network ready for the addition of the Province’s Broadway Subway and the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain extensions

Burnaby Mountain Gondola

The Burnaby Mountain Gondola would provide a fast, frequent, and reliable service between the SkyTrain and Burnaby Mountain.

Bus Rapid Transit Program

Bus Rapid Transit, or BRT, is a form of bus-based rapid transit that will provide fast, frequent, and reliable service using dedicated lanes with transit signal priority.

Capstan Station

The future Capstan Station will be built near No. 3 Road and Capstan Way.

Surrey Langley SkyTrain

Working to bring SkyTrain to the fastest growing area in the region.
