Extra transit service scheduled for 2026 Vancouver Sun Run

More bus, SkyTrain, SeaBus, and West Coast Express service this Sunday

VANCOUVER, BC – TransLink is scheduling extra transit service this Sunday, April 19 to make it easier to get to and from the 2026 Vancouver Sun Run.

Additional service will include more frequent SkyTrain and SeaBus trips, as well as a special West Coast Express weekend train. Some downtown bus routes will operate on detours due to road closures.

The race begins at West Georgia and Thurlow streets, just a short walk from Burrard Station on the Expo Line, making transit one of the most convenient ways to reach the starting line. The run finishes just outside BC Place Stadium, where customers can easily access the nearby Stadium—Chinatown Station.

Service changes on Sunday, April 19:

  • West Coast Express will provide a special Sunday service.
    • The westbound train will depart from Mission City Station at 7 a.m.
    • The eastbound train will depart from Waterfront Station at 1 p.m.
  • SkyTrain service will start 30 minutes earlier than a usual Sunday, with extra trains running until mid-afternoon when the race is finished.
  • Bus service is being rerouted around road closures for the Sun Run to ensure efficient travel throughout downtown. Specific buses that will be detoured include routes 2, 5, 6, 15, 50, 84, 240, 246, 257, N19, and N24.
    • These reroutes will be in effect all morning until approximately 2 p.m. when downtown roads reopen.
  • SeaBus will start 60 minutes earlier than a usual Sunday, with 15-minute service.
    • First sailing leaving from Lonsdale Terminal at 7 a.m.
    • First sailing leaving Waterfront Station at 7:16 a.m.
