Elevator replacement work starts at Edmonds SkyTrain Station
Customers can still access trains to Waterfront Station during elevator closures

BURNABY, BC – TransLink is replacing both elevators at Edmonds SkyTrain Station, as the Expo Line Elevator Replacement Program continues. They have been in service for more than 35 years and are being upgraded with modern, higher-capacity ones.
During the replacement, both elevators at Edmonds Station will be closed. Work begins Tuesday, March 17, and is expected to take under four months to complete:
- During the Edmonds Station elevator closures, customers can still access trains to Waterfront Station using the station’s accessible entrance at street level.
- Customers boarding trains to King George, Braid, and Production Way–University stations who require an elevator will need to:
- Board any train to Waterfront Station and get off at Royal Oak Station.
- Cross the platform and board trains to King George, Braid, and Production Way–University stations.
- Customers on trains to King George, Braid, and Production Way–University stations who require an elevator, and normally get off at Edmonds Station, will need to:
- Stay on the train and get off at 22nd Street Station.
- Follow signs to Platform 1, board any train back to Edmonds Station, and exit the station at street level.
Please allow for up to 15 minutes of extra travel time due to the alternative routes. Go to translink.ca/elevators for full detour directions.
Additional staff and signage will be in place at the station to direct customers. For real-time wayfinding or help planning routes in advance, customers can call Customer Information at 604.953.3333.

The Expo Line Elevator Replacement Program is improving SkyTrain station accessibility and reliability for customers by replacing 21 original elevators across 15 stations. Once complete, all the original Expo Line elevators will have been replaced with modern, more spacious ones.
Elevator replacement work at 22nd Street Station is nearly complete; construction on the second set of elevators at Nanaimo Station is ongoing. Replacement work also continues at Scott Road, Stadium–Chinatown, and Waterfront stations.
The new Expo Line elevators feature:
- More room for customers with mobility devices, strollers, bikes, and luggage.
- Better reliability and reduced downtime for maintenance.
- Better resilience in warm weather.
