    We implement service changes every January, April, June, and September to ensure service is provided where it’s needed most based on seasonal patterns and recent trends.

    Starting Sept. 1, TransLink is increasing service on 53 routes across the region to address overcrowding, improve convenience for customers, and extend the hours of service on some routes.

    • These improvements are made possible through the 2025 Investment Plan, which will deliver the largest bus service expansion since 2018.

    TransLink is making seasonal service changes to increase service on routes serving post-secondary institutions while rolling back seasonal service to popular outdoors destinations until spring 2026.

    • With the return of school, service is being increased on five bus routes serving UBC, SFU, and Capilano University.

    • Seasonal service is being rolled back on 17 routes and four summer-only routes are being discontinued until next year.

    We will continue monitoring ridership levels across the region to ensure service is provided where it is needed most as more and more people choose transit.

    Secondary School Route Adjustments

    701 Archbishop Carney School Special

    We’re cancelling the two daily school special trips on the 701 that depart at 2:04 p.m. and 2:55 p.m. from bus stop #53831, located on westbound Dominion Ave in front of Archbishop Carney Regional Secondary School. Because these were the only two trips serving stop #53831, the stop is also being removed.

    School users will now need to walk approximately two minutes west to bus stop #69291 on westbound Lougheed Highway to access the 701. Service frequencies on the regular 701 route will remain the same, and the 701 will continue to provide easy access to Archbishop Carney Regional Secondary School.

    Take Transit to the PNE

    August 16 to September 1

    Extra bus service to the PNE Fair returns this year from Aug. 16 to Sept. 1! The 16 PNE special bus operates every 15 minutes between the Expo Line’s 29th Avenue Station, the Millennium Line’s Renfrew Station, and the Pacific Coliseum.

    On August 22 and 29, customers can show their Compass Card, or proof of transit fare, at the entrance gates for two-for-one admission to the Fair–available to the first 5,000 customers each day.

    Acceptable proof of transit fare

    • A Compass Card, Compass Wristband, or other Compass product

    • A printed Compass Ticket from a Compass vending machine or fare gate

    • A mobile fare product, such as a tap from an Interac-enabled debit or credit card, phone, or smartwatch

    • On all days, the first bus departs from 29th Avenue Station (Bay 5, Stop #61616) at 9:34 a.m. and from Renfrew Station (Bay 3, Stop #51083) at 9:41 a.m.
    • On weekdays, the last bus departs from the Pacific Coliseum (Stop #58030) at 12:10 a.m.
    • On weekends, the last bus departs from the Pacific Coliseum (Stop #58030) at 12:07 a.m.

    Holiday Service

    Labour Day: Monday, Sept. 1

    • Bus, SkyTrain, and SeaBus services will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule.

    • West Coast Express will not operate.

    • The TransLink Customer Service Centre at Waterfront Station, Access Transit Customer Care Office and Lost Property Office will be closed.

    Holiday fares will be in effect. You only need a 1-Zone fare to travel across all zones.

    Service returns to regular weekday schedules for all modes on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Regular fares will be in effect.

    Travellers using BC Ferries are encouraged to view their holiday schedules as additional sailings may be added for the long weekend.

    Travellers requiring BC Transit connections on the south coast should also review the BC Transit holiday service schedules for the long weekend.
