North Shore

The North Shore Area Transit Plan identifies a long-term vision for transit in the City of North Vancouver, Districts of North Vancouver and West Vancouver, Village of Lions Bay, Bowen Island, Squamish Nation, Tsleil-Waututh Nation, and the service and infrastructure priorities needed to realize that vision. The plan will guide future transit service and infrastructure investments and ensure coordination between transit service and ongoing changes in land use.

Read the Area Transit Plan

Long-Term Transit Vision
Comfortably and efficiently accommodate a 50 per cent increase in transit mode share, with improved internal mobility and north-south travel by 2040.

Near-Term Priorities
These are needed over the next 10 years to help achieve this vision:

  • Make routes simpler and more direct

  • Offer more frequent bus service between key destinations

  • Improve east-west travel options

  • Build new and improved transit exchanges

The North Shore Area Transit Plan is a living plan that will guide decision making at TransLink and communities on the North Shore.

As the North Shore develops, both the long-term vision and the recommended near-term priorities will be reviewed to ensure transportation planning continues to be coordinated with local land use and demand.

In 2015, we published a Progress Update. We'll continue to provide more information on how we're working to meet the goals, objectives, and recommendations of the Plan as we move forward.
