TransLink boosts service for BMO Vancouver Marathon

VANCOUVER, BC – TransLink is adding extra bus, SkyTrain, and SeaBus service to help participants, volunteers, and supporters get to and from the BMO Vancouver Marathon on Sunday, May 3.

The annual event is one of Canada’s premier road races, drawing thousands of runners from across the region and around the world. Race day includes the full marathon, a half marathon, 8 km, and a kids run, bringing a rush of activity to neighbourhoods across the city. Big crowds are expected on the sidelines across the multiple events, cheering on friends and family as they participate in their respective races.

The full marathon begins at Queen Elizabeth Park. The 42.2-km route winds through some of Vancouver’s most iconic communities, including South Vancouver, Dunbar, UBC, Kitsilano, and along the scenic seawall near English Bay, before completing a final loop around Stanley Park, and finishing near the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Service changes for the 2026 BMO Vancouver Marathon:

  • Bus detours will be in effect on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3 due to road closures: 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 19, 22, 23, 33, 41, 42, 49, 50, 68, 84, 99, 209, 210, 211, 240, 246, 257, R4 RapidBus, and N9 NightBus.

  • SeaBus will start two hours earlier than usual at 6:02 a.m. with sailings every 30 minutes from Lonsdale Quay, until regular service resumes at 8:02 a.m. with sailings every 15 minutes until the evening.

  • SkyTrain will begin service on the Expo Line at 7:06 a.m., and the Millennium Line at 6:56 a.m., while the Canada Line will run extra trains to accommodate runners heading to the starting line.
