NEW WESTMINSTER, BC – In recognition of their service and sacrifice, TransLink will honour veterans and active military personnel this Remembrance Day by offering them free transit on Tuesday, November 11.

Customers who are eligible for free transit include veterans, active members of the Canadian Armed Forces, police and fire personnel, Canadian Coast Guard members, officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and BC Ambulance Service personnel. These individuals can present their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or appear in uniform to access free transit.

Veterans and other eligible customers do not need to tap their Compass Card for buses and HandyDART trips, while an accessible fare gate at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will remain open between 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

TransLink also recognizes National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, in honour of the sacrifices made by Indigenous veterans, and their role in supporting peace and security around the world.

The Royal Canadian Legion will be distributing poppies by donation at various transit hubs in Metro Vancouver.

Customers are encouraged to use transit to get to and from Remembrance Day ceremonies throughout the region.

Remembrance Day Service Details (Tuesday, November 11):
