Canadian travel trend inspires TransLink’s new Transit-Friendly Summer Tours
Self-guided trips help support small businesses and promote community connection
NEW WESTMINSTER, BC – With more Canadians opting to be tourists in their own country this summer, TransLink is making it easier (and a lot more fun) with a series of Transit-Friendly Summer Tours throughout Metro Vancouver.
More than 50 curated tours will be launched over the course of this summer, each of which offer unique ways to see different parts of Metro Vancouver while taking transit, cycling, or walking.
Some examples include:
- Family-Fun Tours
- Outdoor Adventure Tours
- Memorable Date Tours
- Visitors Starter Pack Tours
- Art, Culture & Local History Tours
- Hidden Gem Tours
- Foodie Adventure Tours
Participating local businesses and featured destinations will have a unique novelty stamp for TransLink’s new collectible Transit Passport. Once three stamps have been collected, customers can enter to win free transit for a year and a $200 TransLink Store gift card. The contest is open to B.C. residents aged 19 and older and closes on September 30, 2025. There is a limit of one entry per person. Events or businesses that do not have a stamp can be photographed to be submitted online as an entry.
By visiting participating businesses or attractions and showing a Compass Card or proof of same-day travel, customers can unlock exclusive deals and discounts.
Starting Thursday, July 3, physical copies of the Transit Passport will be available at the Waterfront Station Customer Service Centre and at TransLink’s summer community events, including Car Free Days across the region. A digital version is available to be downloaded and printed at translink.ca/tours, with new tours added throughout the summer.
