NEW WESTMINSTER, BC – Car Free Days are back and bigger than ever with nine events across the region. From Maple Ridge to North Vancouver, streets will transform into pedestrian-only spaces, filled with art, music, food trucks, and local vendors.

Presented in collaboration with Interac Corp. and co-hosted by TransLink, local municipalities, and Business Improvement Associations (BIAs), Car Free Days invite residents to experience their vibrant neighbourhoods without cars — encouraging walking, cycling, and transit as greener, more sustainable ways to get around.

Entire streets will be closed to vehicle traffic and reimagined as community hubs featuring:

  • Live music with local performers
  • Delicious eats from food trucks
  • Artisan market with local vendors
  • Kid-friendly activities
  • A Transit Passport stop — pick up and show your passport at each Car Free Day to collect a stamp, and enter for a chance to win prizes

"Since 2005, Car Free Days in Metro Vancouver have brought communities together to celebrate local culture, small businesses, and the spirit of community,” says TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn. “This summer, I encourage everyone to get out, explore your neighbourhoods, and enjoy the events by taking transit, walking, or cycling.”

Participants are encouraged to walk, bike, carpool, or take public transit to join in on the fun.
