TransLink teams up with World Junior Championship
Encouraging transit use to get to the games this season
TransLink is proud to join forces with the World Junior ice hockey championship to welcome the world to Vancouver and Victoria this holiday season. Vancouver will host more than 300,000 visitors from December 26 to January 5, 2018.
The World Juniors is one of the most recognized sporting events in Canada. It will draw more than 850 local volunteers and deliver a significant economic boost to the region. TransLink and the World Juniors encourage everyone attending the games to use transit as a safe and reliable way to get around the city.
To build on the excitement, the World Junior Championship is pleased to announce ‘Jersey Day’ in the Lower Mainland area on Friday, December 21, 2018. We encourage you to wear your favourite jersey – all sports, all nationalities – to showcase Vancouver as a community embracing the upcoming 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship. TransLink is encouraging all staff enterprise-wide to take part in this initiative.
As 2018 draws to a close, TransLink is thanking customers for choosing transit to get around this year with a contest to send them to the sold-out tournament, including the gold medal game. Customers are encouraged to follow TransLink on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and visit translink.ca/worldjuniors throughout the tournament for ways to enter to win.
The Vancouver games are being played at Rogers Arena which is conveniently located steps away from Stadium–Chinatown Station, a stop on SkyTrain's Expo Line. Use our Trip Planner to find your transit route! Watching games in Victoria? Take the SkyTrain's Canada Line to Bridgeport Station and the 620.
