Community Transit Volunteer Program
Make a difference in your community by volunteering with the new Community Transit Volunteer Program. Volunteers will be stationed outside the fare paid zone at transit hubs within their community to welcome and provide support to our customers – whether they’re new or have been travelling with us for years – to help make their experience travelling on our system the best it can be.
Main tasks performed by volunteers will be to greet customers, share and create awareness of TransLink projects and programs, answer customer questions and help direct customers during busy community events.
Knowledge of the transit system, communities and tourist locations is a benefit. Skills being sought for the available roles are:
-
Friendly, outgoing, and welcoming demeanor
-
Ability to navigate the internet via smartphone
-
Commitment to customer care
-
Excellent communication skills
-
Language skills are an asset along with passion for transit and their community
Volunteers will be provided with a one-day training course to arm them with all the tools they require to fulfill their role and to learn more about Metro Vancouver’s premier transit system and will be eligible to receive the following perks:
-
TransLink branded polo shirt and jacket
-
Backpack
-
Monthly draw prizes
-
Connection to your communities
-
Transit employment opportunities
-
Transit incentives
-

Volunteers will be provided with ongoing training and communication to prepare them with all the tools required to succeed.
Volunteer shifts will be scheduled during “peak service hours”, Monday to Friday, from 6-9 a.m. and 3-6 p.m. and on an ad-hoc basis on weekends, holidays, and evenings when community and regional events are scheduled. Shifts will be approximately 3-4 hours long.
