Transit-Friendly Employer is a certification program offered by TransLink. It recognizes leading organizations for making employee travel easy, affordable, and climate friendly. What Employers are Saying

    Fraser Health Authority

“Employees who have taken advantage of the Transit-Friendly Employer program have told us how much they appreciate it. They feel supported, knowing that their workplace is doing what it can to provide more affordable transportation options. Some colleagues even share a bus ride or SkyTrain trip together.”

Geoff Roberts, Director of Parking, Access, and Commuter Services

    Rivian Automotive

“The TransLink Transit-Friendly Employer program is immensely valuable to surrounding communities as well as Rivian employees in Vancouver. Programs like TFE help to keep costs low, reduce traffic congestion and emissions, and provide a safe and efficient alternative to drive-alone commutes.”

Reasons to Act: By the Numbers

    Differentiate your business

Today’s workforce expects companies to lead on climate action and social responsibility. 61 per cent of corporate leaders believe that sustainability leads to market differentiation and improved financial performance. (source: USGBC)

    Attract and retain talent

Labour challenges across Canada and the world are turning recruiting and retention into a competitive battleground. In Canada, 25 per cent of employees cite their commute as a major reason for moving jobs.

    Encourage sustainable commuting

At 32 per cent of regional GHGs, transportation is the largest single source of GHGs in the region. By choosing to take transit instead of driving – you’re taking one of the biggest steps to reducing your carbon footprint. A trip on a diesel bus reduces GHGs by 60 per cent compared to driving a gasoline car. A trip on an electric-trolley bus or SkyTrain reduces GHGs by over 99 per cent compared to driving a gasoline car.

    Address the climate emergency

We all need to do our part: based on our surveys, two-thirds of organizations in the region have a corporate climate policy. For many organizations, employee commuting is a significant source of GHGs. Shifting to transit is a quick and economical way to reduce emissions. For our part, we’re working towards a zero-emissions fleet.
