Collect, connect, and trade: TransLink unveils exclusive transit trading cards

Five designs. Two thousand cards. One summer challenge to collect them all.

TransLink trading cards

VANCOUVER, BC – TransLink is unveiling its first-ever series of exclusive trading cards; a playful tribute to the vehicles, vessels, and icons that keep our region moving.

The first set of these limited-edition collectible trading cards will feature five different designs representing some of TransLink’s iconic transit fleet:

  • Mark I SkyTrain car – the original that started it all (the rarest card of all!)
  • Mark V SkyTrain car – the future of rapid transit
  • West Coast Express locomotive – TransLink’s commuter rail powerhouse (also rare!)
  • Burrard Chinook SeaBus – adorned in stunning Indigenous artwork
  • Nova LFS CNG bus – a cleaner ride for our streets

“These new TransLink trading cards are a nod to classic trading card culture,” says TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn. “They’re a fun way to spark conversations about transit, connect with other riders, and encourage more people to hop on board."

How to collect:

  • Launch day: Pick up a free starter pack (three random cards) at the TransLink Customer Service Centre at Waterfront Station on Friday, August 8 at 11 a.m.
  • Rare finds: We are only releasing 2,000 cards in the first giveaway. The West Coast Express card is limited to 100, and the Mark I SkyTrain card to just 15.
  • Keep hunting: More cards will become available at summer events like the PNE Fair and various Car Free Days, where you can pick up one card per person at the TransLink booth. Some frontline transit staff will also hand out cards at random, and TransLink will host social media giveaways, and also through TransLink's monthly newsletter.

Designed in-house, the TransLink trading cards are purely collectible and not valid as Compass Cards. Customers must still use their Compass Card, or contactless debit, credit card, or mobile wallet at the fare gates and card readers.

Who will be the first to collect all five TransLink trading cards this summer? Pick yours up today while supplies last.
