Regional Transportation Strategy

Our current long-term strategy, the Regional Transportation Strategy (RTS) Strategic Framework– July 2013, sets out the vision, goals, principles, strategies, and key initiatives to help guide transportation decisions in Metro Vancouver to 2045.

Priority actions for the first part of that period are detailed in the 10-Year Vision, which was developed by the Mayors' Council in 2014. The initiatives set out in the 10-Year Vision are being delivered in several phases as funding becomes available.

The Phase 1 Investment Plan was approved in November 2016 and began implementation in 2017. The Phase 2 Investment Plan was approved on June 28, 2018.

We are now beginning to turn our attention to what comes next.

We want to have a region-wide conversation about what the future looks like and how we can position the region for success for the next 30 years. The outcome of that conversation, which will include consultation with all levels of government, key stakeholders and the public, will enable us to provide a comprehensive update to the existing RTS which we’re legislatively required to do every five years.

Opportunities for you to participate in the update process will be coming later in 2018. Stay tuned!
