Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Area Transport Plan

Welcome to Phase 2 of the Maple Ridge—Pitt Meadows Area Transport Plan (ATP) planning process, a comprehensive review of transit, cycling, walking and the regional road network within Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows ATP - Engagement Timeline

  • In Phase 1 we asked anyone who lives or works in Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge to help us identify issues, opportunities and what we can do to improve local transit and transportation. For more information, please see the Phase 1 Engagement Summary Report.
  • In Phase 2, we took public input and developed a range of different strategies aimed at improving transit, strengthening regional cycling connections and making walking to transit safer and more enjoyable. In this survey we’re asking for feedback on these potential strategies, what we got right and what we didn’t, and how we should prioritize.

Thank you for participating!

April 24, 2019: Consultation for Phase 2 of the Maple Ridge–Pitt Meadows Area Transport Plan has concluded. We've received thousands of responses to the survey and thank everyone that participated! Please check back soon, we'll provide updates on this project in the coming months.

  • Improved transit connections
  • Service seven days a week

Tradeoffs

  • Customers along Wildwood Cr would have to walk further to their stop

Proposed Change

  • More frequent service on weekdays and Saturdays
  • Introduce service on Sundays
  • Extend hours of operation
  • Remove 744 Port Hammond detour

Why are we proposing this change?

  • Make service more functional and convenient

Why are we proposing the change?

  • Current routing is indirect
  • No service on Sundays

Related Information

The Maple Ridge—Pitt Meadows ATP is focused on improving the local transportation network and improvements over the next 10 years. Larger regional considerations will be reviewed as part of TransLink's update to the Regional Transportation Strategy (Transport 2050), including:

  • Rapid transit expansion: Regional priorities for rapid transit investment will be addressed in Transport 2050. Planning for investments in rapid transit can take multiple years and is outside the scope of the Area Transport Plan, which focuses on improvements over the next 10 years.
  • Additional West Coast Express service: Some west coast express upgrades were included as part of the Mayors’ 10-year vision and will be part of the next investment plan, this includes expanding capacity and upgrading train vehicles. Additional opportunities for expansion including more trips, reverse commute direction service, and additional stations are outside the scope of the Area Transport Plan and may be addressed in Transport 2050.

Visit the Transport 2050 page to learn more.

It’s important to note that a new B-Line service between Coquitlam Centre and Maple Ridge will be introduced in late 2019. This new high-frequency service B-Line will provide service from 5 a.m. to midnight 7 days a week and will complement existing transit connections between the two communities. Visit the B-Line Consultation page for more information.

Residents of Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge have direct access to the Millennium Line at Coquitlam Central Station via the 701 (Coquitlam Central/Haney Place/Maple Ridge East). The 701 provides 15-minute or better frequency throughout the day, seven days a week. With the introduction of the new Lougheed Hwy B-Line in late 2019, the region will have another direct connection to the Millennium Line at Coquitlam Central Station. This new B-Line will provide high-frequency service from 5 a.m. to midnight seven days a week.

To access the Expo Line, residents of Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge have a direct connection to Braid Station in New Westminster via the 791 (Haney Place/Braid). The 791 provides weekday service only, there is no service on weekends. To access the Expo Line in Surrey, residents must transfer at Carvolth Exchange from the 595 (Maple Meadows Station/Langley Centre) to one of the routes that travels west towards Central Surrey. There is currently no direct connection from Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge to the Expo Line in Surrey.

Flexible on-demand transit service has the potential to reduce wait times in rural areas currently served by lower-frequency fixed routes. Unlike conventional transit, which uses a fixed route and schedule, on-demand service is more responsive with routing determined by each customer’s specific location when requesting a ride. Passengers would have the ability to hail rides from their phones, pay via an app, and track the status of their trips.
