TransLink partners with the Legion to help distribute poppies in Metro Vancouver

NEW WESTMINSTER B.C – In partnership with The Royal Canadian Legion, TransLink is offering free transit for veterans on Remembrance Day and promoting the distribution of poppies at key transit hubs.

“TransLink is honoured to partner with the Legion to help spread poppies around Metro Vancouver,” says TransLink CEO Kevin Desmond. “The poppy is an important symbol honouring all those who have served and are still serving their country.”

Transit customers will see members of The Royal Canadian Legion giving out poppies by donation at key transit hubs including:

  • Waterfront Station
  • Commercial-Broadway Station
  • Surrey Central Station
  • Lougheed Town Centre Station
  • Broadway-City Hall Station

“The Royal Canadian Legion is committed to making a difference in the lives of our Veterans and their families,” says Valerie MacGregor, BC and Yukon Command President of the Royal Canadian Legion BC. “The funds raised by the Poppy Campaign enable us to fulfill our mission within our communities and ensures our Veterans, Members of the Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP and their families get the support they deserve. Serving Veterans is the duty of all Canadians. This partnership with TransLink is a wonderful opportunity for us to engage everyday Canadians. I encourage you to join with us in honouring their sacrifice and service to our country.”
