COVID-19 Update

To keep the community safe and to help slow the spread of COVID-19, TransLink is temporarily suspending the buskers program until further notice.

TransLink Busker Program

TransLink's busker program has been providing SkyTrain customers with music and entertainment since Expo '86. Registered musicians perform at approved SkyTrain stations, playing a variety of instruments and musical styles.

You can enjoy TransLink's buskers at the following locations:

  • Burrard Station
  • Granville Station
  • Lougheed Station
  • Main Street–Science World | East Stationhouse
  • Main Street–Science World | West Stationhouse
  • Metrotown | West Stationhouse
  • Stadium–Chinatown | BC Place side
  • Surrey Central Station | East Stationhouse by bus loop
  • Vancouver City Centre
  • Waterfront Station | SeaBus SkyWalk
  • Waterfront Station | Howe Street Entrance

TransLink holds auditions on an annual basis for the program, single and duo performers are welcomed. Successful musicians are issued a licence valid for two years, and are scheduled to perform at specific stations and times on a rotating schedule. Performances are 90 minutes in length, with 30 minute intervals between each one. If a musician isn't performing at their scheduled time, another musician is allowed to perform in their place on a first come first serve basis.

Interested in Becoming a TransLink Busker?

This year we will be conducting online auditions for new busker positions. So, if you think you can busk and want to busk on TransLink property please submit a maximum 60 sec clip or a link of you preforming with the instrument of your choice to busker@translink.ca and put in the Subject line: New Busker (include your full name).

We will contact the successful candidates to inform them that they are required to attend an in-person audition on November 18 and a mandatory Annual General Busker Meeting with all the musicians in December (date to be determined).

*Please note that all current musicians that have their licenses expiring this year will not be required to submit an online video clip but will still be required to perform at a live audition. Please advise us via email if you intend to come back to the program otherwise we will consider you as a non-returning performer and will not include you in the mandatory live audition.

Attention to all current licensed buskers, we are conducting our annual busker audition for those that have expiring licenses. If you auditioned last year you will not need to audition this year but all musicians will be required to pay your annual fee of $75 if you wish to come back to the program. If you intend to come back to the program please send an email to busker@translink.ca.

If you would like to audition please send an email to busker@translink.ca and putting in the Subject line: Current Busker (your full name). Include the Busker application and Consent to Use forms that were emailed to you.

Deadline to apply is November 4, 2019.

Successful applicants will be required to do the following:

  • Attend the Annual General Busker Meeting in December, where the Program will be explained in more detail and licenses distributed
  • Submit a criminal record check
  • Sign the TransLink Musicians License and guidelines
  • Pay the $75.00 TransLink Busker License fee (cash, or cheque made out to “TransLink”)

We look forward to seeing returning and new buskers.
