Derrick Cheung

Derrick Cheung

Vice President, Strategic Sourcing and Real Estate
TransLink

As Vice President, Strategic Sourcing & Real Estate for TransLink, Derrick holds executive accountability for Procurement & Contract Management, Real Estate, and Commercial Revenue functions for the organization.

Prior to joining TransLink, Derrick worked for multi-national companies in the transportation industry (air, rail and marine sectors) and energy industry; leading complex contract negotiations, real estate, technology, business transformation, and innovation initiatives.

Derrick holds a LL.M [International Business Law], MBA, and MA [Leading Innovation & Change] as well as various industry certifications.

Vice President, Transportation Planning and Policy

Geoff Cross is the Vice-President of Transportation Planning and Policy at TransLink. TransLink is unique among North American transit agencies in that it has a broad mandate for managing the movement of people and goods across the regional network. This remit encompasses the planning, funding, and operating of transit as well as major roads, bridges, and cycling at the regional level. TransLink in collaboration with municipal partners have been at the forefront of transport policy and planning since TransLink’s creation in 1998. Since that time, Metro Vancouver has been a transportation outlier in North America, with wide-spread transit oriented development and unmatched ridership growth, when most regions are experiencing flat or declining demand. Geoff’s team has been responsible for developing the Region’s Long-term Strategy and the 2014 Mayors’ Vision which is the blue print for investment and management of the system. With $9 Billion of multimodal expansion green-lighted in the last two years, Metro Vancouver is in the midst of unparalleled multimodal investments to meet the shifting needs of a rapidly growing region. Geoff’s Division also leads other policy initiatives such as the Regional Goods Movement Strategy, Mobility and Fare Pricing and New Mobility Services. Geoff has a BA in Economics and an MA in Planning.


Christine Dacre

Christine was appointed to the position of Vice President Financial Services at TransLink in 2011, and is responsible for leading financial planning & reporting, accounting services, treasury, capital asset management, compass operations, enterprise risk and sustainability functions. Prior to her role at TransLink she worked for 5 years at Coast Mountain Bus Company and left the role of Vice President Finance, Corporate & Shared Services to join TransLink.

Christine is a Chartered Professional Accountant and represents TransLink on the board of Fraser River Marine Transportation Ltd. and Pacific Vehicle Technology Ltd. She is also actively involved in the community and currently serves on the board of the New Westminster Police Department and G&F Financial Group.

Annabelle Donovan

Vice President, Human Resources

Annabelle Donovan is the Vice President of Human Resources at TransLink. In this role, Annabelle oversees a staff of 85 human resources professionals and is responsible for organizational development, which includes succession planning, leadership and management development, change management and training; employee and labour relations; talent acquisition and workforce planning; diversity, inclusion and equity; and compensation, benefits and payroll.

Annabelle began her career as a labour and employment lawyer. She joined TransLink with more than 20 years of experience working and consulting in both the public and private sectors, holding senior management and executive positions in Human Resources. As an experienced consultant, facilitator and executive coach, Annabelle’s work with strategic leadership and transformational change is a benefit to both TransLink and its operating companies.

Annabelle is a graduate of the University of British Columbia (BA) and the University of Victoria (LLB). She served as a member of the BC Labour Relations Board and the provincial Human Rights Advisory Council. Annabelle is an active member of her community with interests in soccer and development for women and girls.


Kurt Pregler

Kurt Pregler

Chief Information Officer
TransLink

As TransLink’s Chief Information Officer, Kurt is responsible for all aspects of TransLink’s technology strategy and operations including governance and policy, resource allocation, and strategic oversight for IT across the enterprise. He believes strongly in the role technology plays to deliver excellent customer service, improve the organization, and make our region a better place to live.

Prior to his role as CIO, Kurt was assigned to the Program Director role for the Compass Card & Fare Gate Project in 2015. In this role, he was tasked with turning the project around after lengthy delays and technical issues. Within a year, he led his team to successfully deliver Compass, one of Metro Vancouver’s largest and most complex public-facing transformation projects.

During his time in previous leadership roles at TransLink, Kurt established TransLink’s IT Project Management Office and led the Application Services department. These roles involved developing the agency’s first enterprise-wide integrated IT-planning process, managing the IT capital program, and establishing software development and support practices to increase the value of IT for the enterprise.

Prior to joining TransLink in 2008, Kurt held various roles as a management and project delivery consultant, as well as in operations management.

Kurt holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University, a Master of Business Administration from Royal Roads University, and diplomas from BCIT and Royal Roads University. He holds professional designations as an Information Technology Professional, a Project Management Professional, and Business Technology Management Fellow. In 2006, Kurt was awarded the designation of Certified Management Consultant with Honours.

Kurt has been an active member of his community, serving on many community and professional associations. He currently coaches youth soccer with the Coquitlam Metro Ford Soccer Club and sits on the BC Ministry of Health’s Drug Benefit Council.

Vice President, Major Projects

Simon Tang joined TransLink as Vice President of Major Projects on January 2, 2019. With more than 29 years of experience in the construction industry, Simon possesses a wealth of experience in infrastructure project management including project delivery risk evaluation, stakeholder engagement, construction and design consultant management, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution. Prior to TransLink, Simon worked at MTR Corporation in Hong Kong as General Manager throughout the construction of a $14.5B Express Rail Link project, overseeing the project delivery. As Vice President of Major Projects at TransLink, Simon works closely with the senior executive team to deliver an ambitious, diverse and challenging portfolio of major capital projects, including delivery of rapid transit south of the Fraser, coordination of the Broadway Subway project with the Province and British Columbia Rapid Transit Company, and future transit expansion.


Steve Vanagas

Vice President, Customer Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs
TransLink

Steve is the Vice-President of Customer Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs at TransLink. In this role, he is responsible for communications, marketing and advertising programs, community and public affairs, and customer experience strategy for the TransLink enterprise. Over the last year, TransLink has been the fastest rising brand in British Columbia and is leading all North American transit organizations in ridership growth.

Steve previously served 10 years as head of communications and public affairs for BC Hydro, where he delivered a complete re-brand of the organization as well as guiding it to being recognized as the Most Influential Brand and one of the Most Loved Brands in British Columbia. He was previously Deputy Chief of Staff to the Premier of British Columbia, and served as the Executive Director of the British Columbia Government Caucus. He was formerly a journalist including work as a member of the B.C. Legislative Press Gallery. Steve is a graduate of Simon Fraser University and has an MBA from the University of Victoria. He currently serves on the Board of the B.C. Rapid Transit Corporation.


Sany Zein

Vice President, Infrastructure Management and Engineering

Sany R. Zein is the Vice President of Infrastructure Management and Engineering at TransLink. He oversees an asset portfolio valued at $12b, and an annual capital program worth $1b. Sany is responsible for capital project delivery, major project development, TransLink’s Infrastructure Project Management Office, road and bicycle infrastructure funding programs, operations and maintenance for three major bridges, and the enterprise asset management program. Sany is a registered Professional Engineer with more than 25 years of experience in the private and public sectors, including project experience throughout Canada and the United States.
