Surrey Rapid Transit Study

Surrey and the neighbouring south of Fraser communities of Delta, White Rock and the City and Township of Langley are the fastest growing communities in Metro Vancouver.

As more people choose to live, work, shop and study in these communities, we have an opportunity to provide improved rapid transit options.

Finding the Right Solution
Building on the work initiated by the South of Fraser Area Transit Plan, TransLink and the Province of BC are leading a phased study that will examine the alternatives for rapid transit in Surrey. In the early stages of the study, we are working with the cities of Surrey and Langley as well as Metro Vancouver. As the study progresses, additional partners such as the Township of Langley, Corporation of Delta and City of White Rock will also become involved.

Following a competitive process, transportation consultant IBI Group was recently selected to conduct an analysis of the full range of rapid transit alternatives over the phases as shown.

Phase 1 of the study is currently under way. Guided by the Surrey Rapid Transit Study Stakeholder and Public Consultation Principles, a comprehensive and open consultation process with stakeholders and the public will help to determine the best way forward.
