Access Transit Strategy
TransLink has developed the "Access Transit" Strategy to make sure that the transit system is accessible for as many people as possible, recognizing the physical, cognitive or other challenges they might face.
The strategy involved reviewing the transit system with input from the public, stakeholders, transit users and employees, and also looked at how other urban regions are making transit more accessible. We obtained input by facilitating workshops as well as holding discussions with stakeholder groups, customers and employees.
You Spoke. We Listened.
Users and stakeholders told us that they wanted "a seamless and inclusive public transit system that welcomes every member of the region’s diverse community with a fully integrated range of bus, rail, ferry and custom transit services that is inviting, responsive, safe, comfortable and affordable and that fully meets the needs of all people to access transit vehicles, amenities, information, customer service, training and other programs."
In June 2007 TransLink’s Board of Directors approved the Access Transit Strategy. The Access Transit Group is currently working with the Users’ Advisory Committee to implement the project’s recommendations.
Please see the Access Transit Brochure detailed look at the Strategy.
