2011: Maintaining the Transportation System

TransLink's priorities in 2011 – as laid out in our 2011 Base Plan and Outlook – were to maintain services, keep the system in a state of good repair and make modest investments in upgrades. Though 2011 was a year when record numbers of people chose public transit, TransLink operated with no overall growth, delivering the best services possible within its budget. 

• Service Optimization: This ongoing project aims to maximize the productivity of transit by putting service where it's needed most and matching service levels to demand.
• OnTrack: Key upgrades to the SkyTrain system to ensure that it operates in a state of good repair for years to come.
• Compass card and faregates: Preparing the transit network for the introduction of the Compass card and faregates in 2013.
