Station and Exchange Improvements

TransLink is upgrading several existing stations and exchanges in order to accommodate increasing passenger volumes, meet accessibility commitments and improve the customer experience.

In 2013, we'll begin upgrading several Expo Line stations, as outlined in our 2013 Base Plan and the Expo Line Upgrade Strategy. New or expanded exchanges are also required to support the transit expansion outlined in TransLink's 2040 Plan, 10-Year Plan and Area Transit Plans.

In some cases, planning for new or upgraded stations and exchanges involves partnering with municipalities and neighbourhoods around the transit facility. These plans aim to:

• make transit an asset to a community by integrating infrastructure with the surrounding neighbourhood
• improve passenger access to exchanges by creating safe, comfortable walking and cycling routes
• encourage the development of housing and employment in places where walking, cycling and transit are attractive choices
