Improving and optimizing east-west bus service in the Broadway corridor to UBC on multiple routes between 49th Avenue and False Creek through changes such as frequent service or transit signal priority.
Have we done all we can with conventional buses?
The best bus alternative will look at what measures could be taken to meet demand in the Broadway corridor and to UBC by improving bus service without significant infrastructure investment.
This alternative will demonstrate how much future demand can be met through improvements to the existing bus service and by serving parallel corridors.
Measures may include more frequent service, express buses, new vehicles, new routes, and low cost infrastructure improvements like transit signal priority or bus lanes.
The best bus alternative will be a low cost alternative against which all other rapid transit options are compared.
