About the Combination Alternative
LRT systems typically operate in the street but in separate lanes from other traffic, in order to improve travel time and reliability. Most LRT systems run on the surface, however they can also run in tunnels or on elevated structures.
RRT systems typically operate in a tunnel or on an elevated structure. Surface level operation is possible; however must be fully fenced, and cross above or below other traffic and pedestrians.
Visit our Rapid Transit Technologies page for more information about LRT and RRT.
