Fleet Expansion Overview
The transit fleet TransLink inherited in 1999 has seen remarkable expansion and improvement over the last ten years:
- More than 1,500 new and replacement buses have been added, with existing services expanded and new initiatives launched – such as the Community Shuttle mini-bus service
- The arrival of new-generation trolley buses, including larger, articulated vehicles, meaning continued zero-emission transit and improved accessibility
- Since 2003, 60 new SkyTrain cars have been added and another 34 were delivered in late 2009
- A third SeaBus passenger ferry came into service in December, 2009
- Canada Line service began three months ahead of schedule, opening it's doors to passengers in August, 2009
