Surrey City Centre and Transportation Plan
The Surrey Central Transit Village project developed a land-use plan for the area around Surrey Central SkyTrain Station. The plan aims to stimulate and guide development and improvements around the station in order to increase transit ridership and to improve the experience of existing passengers and of neighbourhood residents.
Surrey Central SkyTrain Station is located in Surrey City Centre, a neighbourhood identified as a Regional Town Centre by Metro Vancouver's Livable Region Strategic Plan. The station is an important transfer point for bus and SkyTrain passengers, and the neighbourhood is emerging as a significant destination.
The plan developed for the Surrey Central Station area by TransLink and the City of Surrey addresses:
- Land use
- Transportation
- Economic development potential
- Safety and security
- Urban design
Proposed area improvements will build on the momentum created by a new high-rise office building, the Simon Fraser University Surrey Campus located beside the station as well as future transit services connecting Surrey City Centre to other neighbourhoods.
