Near-Term Transit Priorities

How the Draft Projects Were Developed

In Phase 3 of the North Shore Area Transit Plan process, a list of potential transit service and infrastructure projects was generated based on suggestions received from stakeholders, the public, elected officials, and the ATP's Public and Technical Advisory and Committees. A draft Multiple Account Evaluation framework was also developed to evaluate those projects which aligned with the long-term transit vision, identified in Phase 2. Based on input from the community workshops in February 2012 and input received from our online questionnaire, social media, and direct correspondence, the Multiple Account Evaluation was finalized and used to evaluate and prioritize the projects identified.

How the "High Priority" Projects were Determined

Since then, the draft Multiple Account Evaluation criteria and projects were revised to reflect the input received. Service and Infrastructure Projects that aligned with the long-term vision were then evaluated using the finalized Multiple Account Evaluation framework.

Based on that evaluation, 13 draft "high priority" transit service and infrastructure projects were identified. These 13 projects are the ones that performed the strongest on the evaluation criteria, and would be considered for implementation in the coming years through TransLink's existing and future Supplemental Plans (or via the ongoing Service Optimization program), subject to funding availability and consideration of all other Metro Vancouver projects.

All projects identified as "high priority" help move the North Shore toward the long-term transit vision established earlier in the planning process. Our High-Priority 2040 Vision Map shows how the draft 13 "high priority" projects support the 2040 Vision.
