Pattullo Bridge Closures August 14
August 14, 2012
The Pattullo Bridge will be closed to all traffic (including bicycles and pedestrians) from 9pm Friday, August 17 until 3am Monday, August 20.
This is to allow re-paving of portions of the 75-year-old bridge where damage to the asphalt pavement at the south end has become a safety concern. TransLink will also take this opportunity to examine the bridge deck and possibly repair some of the corroded pedestrian guard rail.
The City of Surrey will also take the opportunity to do repaving work along King George Boulevard. King George Boulevard will be closed west of 128 Street except to local traffic, buses and emergency vehicles. Vehicles can access Scott Road Station via 128 Street, 110 Avenue and northbound Scott Road. The City will notify affected businesses.
Motorists should plan alternate routes to get from one side of the Fraser River to the other. The N19 NightBus will be re-routed via the Alex Fraser and Queensborough Bridges and the #321 on Sunday morning will be terminated at Scott Road. Customers on both routes should plan on longer travel time.
One lane will be kept open to allow fire, police and ambulance vehicles to get across the bridge, if need be.
If there is rain that weekend – heavier than showers – the work will be postponed until August 24-27.
TransLink apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this work, which is necessary to ensure road safety and the longevity of the bridge, and thanks everyone for their patience.
