Come to the Fair on Transit Of Course

August 14, 2012

Mini-doughnuts, demolition derby, 4H displays and thrill rides can only mean one thing: the PNE is back! The Fair kicks off Saturday, August 18, and as it has for over a century, public transit can get you there and bring you home again without worrying about the cost and time spent using a private vehicle.

In addition to regular transit service – the #14 and #135 stop directly outside the PNE grounds, while the #16 stops on Renfrew, south of Hastings – TransLink services will provide special buses to connect with the SkyTrain Expo/Millennium Line.

The main transfer locations are at 29th Ave. SkyTrain Station and Renfrew SkyTrain Station, where PNE Specials will run every 15 minutes from 9:30am until midnight.

Northbound: due to faregate construction, customers may have to exit 29th Ave. Station on the south side, towards Slocan Park to get to the bus loop.

Other PNE Specials will run:

  • From Phibbs Exchange in North Vancouver to Pacific Coliseum every 15 minutes from 9:30am until midnight
  • From Horseshoe Bay to Pacific Coliseum at 9:25 and 10:25am and 12:30 and 4:20pm (stopping at Park Royal 20 minutes later), with additional trips leaving 25th and Marine at 11am, 12:45pm and 2:30pm
  • Return trips leave to West Vancouver leave Pacific Coliseum at 1:30 (to Park Royal only), 3:10, 4, 5:30, 6:20, 7:30 and 8:20pm (to Horseshoe Bay) with a final trip to 25th & Marine at 10:50pm.
  • The #14 UBC will leave Kootenay Loop a few minutes early during peak periods to allow for delays at stops serving the PNE.

SkyTrain will run its regular service schedules throughout The Fair, but will add extra service if needed to handle extra crowds.
