TransLink Responds to Mayors' Council Motions
April 12, 2012
Statement from TransLink CEO, Ian Jarvis:
In the past few days, we received two decisions that impact our business: the Commissioner’s decision to reduce our proposed fare increase and the recent Mayors’ Council motion to eliminate reliance on property tax to fulfill the Moving Forward Plan. We need time to review the information and understand what these decisions mean for TransLink, our customers and the public we serve. We will share our progress publicly in due course.
We move more than one million passengers through the system each day; our priority is to deliver quality service that is efficient, reliable and fiscally responsible, and provides value for every dollar invested. We fully support an open review of our operations, and our board of directors has asked for an expeditious audit so that we can return focus to delivering the services people of the region told us they need.
