| A: Check to see if you have pop-up blocker enabled. You need to have all pop-up blockers disabled to use the Online Job Opportunities system. Details about checking pop-up blocker settings, and how to disable them, can be found in your browser's help section. |
Q: When I click on the "View current job openings on-line" link, I get the maintenance page: "This page is undergoing maintenance at the present time. Please come back and try again later." Why?

A: The system may be undergoing maintenance. However, if you keep getting this page for more than 2 days please clear your browser's cache and try again.
Internet Explorer users you can go to: Tools - Internet Options, and delete browsing history.
FireFox users can go to: Tools - Clear Private Data
Safari users can go to: Edit - Empty Cache

Q: I don't have an email account. How do I get one?

| A: You can get a free email account through several internet sources such as Yahoo Mail or Gmail. |
Q: I try to register but the system says that my user name already exists. What should I do?
|
| A: This means you've already created a profile with that user name. Please log into the system using this user name and the correct password. |
Q: I don't remember my password. Can you tell me what it is?
|
| A: If you entered an email address in your existing profile you can click on "Forgot your Password" and request that your user name or password be sent to your email address. If you don't have an email address in your profile you'll need to create a new user name and password, and recreate your application materials. |
Q: When I try to get my password using "Forgot your Password", I see the following error message: "We have no record of your email address, please create a new user account." What does that mean?

| A: You didn't enter an email address in your profile when you created your user account. You'll need to create a new user name and password, and recreate your application materials. |
Q: I am getting the message 'Your Resume could not be parsed at this time. You may try another resume or paste your resume.' What should I do?
|
A: Please check the following:
- Please ensure that the document title is no more than 59 characters (with or without spaces).
- Is your resume a pdf that has been created by scanning hard copy document? If so, please try uploading a word document or a pdf that has been converted from an electronic file.
If you are still unable to upload your resume, please use the copy and paste feature to add your resume information to your online application. |
Q: How do I attach my resume to my application?

A:
- Upload a new resume - choose this option if you want to add a brand new resume to the systems for this application.
Resume Uploading Tips:
- Please use a word document or a document that has been converted to PDF. Resumes scanned to PDF will not upload to the system.
- Please ensure that the document title is no more than 60 characters (with or with-out spaces).
Example: Last Name, First Name - Competition Number (Smith, John - 20110589)
- Use an Existing Resume - choosing this option will prompt you to select from a list of previously submitted resumes. Please note, previously submitted resumes cannot be edited.
- Copy and Paste Resume text - choose this option to copy and paste your resume text into your online application.

Q: When I try to upload my resume I get a "connection has been re-set" message. Can I still apply online?

| A: Yes. Firefox users may get bumped out of PeopleSoft (the online job application system) when trying to upload a resume. MAC users should use Safari 2.0 or higher, and PC users should use IE 6 or higher. |

Q: Can I apply using a previously uploaded resume?

| A: Yes. When you click "Apply Now" you'll see a list of resume options including "Use an existing resume." Choosing this option will prompt you to select from a list of previously submitted resumes. |
Q: Once submitted, can I edit my resume?

| A: Once an application has been submitted, the attached resume can no longer be modified. If you want to modify a previously submitted resume: click on the link to view your saved resumes, open your resume, make your edits and then save it as a new document on your computer. You can now upload it as a new resume to any new applications. |
Q: I want to delete one of the documents attached to my profile. Can I delete old files?

| A: Once a resume has been added to an application, and the application has been submitted, you can't delete the document. Other documents, such as cover letters, can be deleted at any time. |
Q: How do I attach a cover letter to my application?
|
| A: Once you've submitted your application for a position, you can add a cover letter or other attachments to your profile. Go to the "Cover Letters and Attachment" link on your profile main page and use the "Add Attachment" icon to add additional documents to your profile. Note: these documents will show in every application, so please be sure to include the competition number for the job opening you are applying to in the name of your document (example: jdoe_coverletter_20100457.doc). |
Q: How do I know that my job application has been received?

| A: Once you submit your application and agree to the conditions of employment you'll receive a confirmation email (if you have provided an email address) within a few minutes. |
Q: The link to update my profile is gone. Where did it go?

| A: You must be signed-in to see the My Profile link. |
Q: I am trying to view the job opportunities on the external careers site, but the system is telling me I'm not authorized to view the page. Do I need special access?

| A: If you are an employee trying to view the external careers link from a work computer the system is trying to access the external careers pages using your internal employee permissions. Please close all of your PeopleSoft sessions and try again. |
Q: I read the System Requirements and FAQ but I'm still having trouble accessing the Online Job Opportunities system. What do I do?

| A: If you're still unable to complete your application through the online process after making changes to your browser settings (please see System Requirements above), please send your resume to jobs@translink.ca, with the title of the job you're applying for as the subject line.
