TransLink is responsible for planning, financing and managing transportation modes and services in the Metro Vancouver region. Our services are delivered through subsidiary companies and contractors that keep the buses and trains running, the ferries moving, the air clean and construction projects like Canada Line on track.
AirCare
Pacific Vehicle Testing Technologies Ltd., better known as AirCare, provides emission testing for vehicles in the Lower Mainland. The AirCare program is one of the most effective vehicle emissions inspection and maintenance programs in North America – 14 years after its inception, vehicle-generated emissions in the region were reduced by 31 per cent.

Bus and SeaBus
TransLink’s largest subsidiary, Coast Mountain Bus Company Ltd. (CMBC), operates over 96 per cent of the region’s bus service including state-of-the-art clean diesel buses and zero-emission trolleys. Contracted companies, including West Vancouver Blue Bus and community shuttle services, operate the remaining four per cent of regional bus service.
CMBC also operates the SeaBus passenger ferries, a vital link between North Vancouver and downtown Vancouver, which cross the Burrard Inlet.

SkyTrain
British Columbia Rapid Transit Company Ltd. (BCRTC), operates the internationally respected SkyTrain advanced rapid transit system, which connects downtown Vancouver with Burnaby, New Westminster and Surrey. TransLink’s SkyTrain is the world’s longest, fully automated, driverless light rapid transit system. The system uses the same family of linear induction motor-driven trains found in Toronto, New York and Kuala Lumpur.

West Coast Express Ltd.
West Coast Express runs the rail and bus service that connects Mission, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam and Port Moody with downtown Vancouver, making the 65-kilomtre commute to downtown in just over an hour. Amenities include computer plug-ins and a cappuccino bar.

Transit Police Service
A division of TransLink, the Transit Police Service (SCBCTAPS) delivers policing service to the multiple modes of the transit system and has a mandate to preserve and maintain the public peace, prevent crime and offences against the law, aid in the administration of justice and enforce the laws of British Columbia. Transit Police Officers also issue violation tickets for transit infractions, including tickets for fare evasion.
