The 2010 Paralympic Games are hosted by the City of Vancouver and the Resort Municipality of Whistler (located approximately two hours drive from Vancouver). Venues in Metro Vancouver include the Vancouver Paralympic Centre for Wheelchair Curling and UBC Thunderbird Arena for Sledge Hockey, while Biathlon, Cross-Country and Alpine Skiing events will take place at Whistler facilities.
BC Place in downtown Vancouver is the host venue for the Paralympic Opening Ceremonies. Daily Victory Ceremonies in Vancouver will be held after competitions at sports venues, while Whistler will celebrate medal winners with nightly celebrations at Whistler Medals Plaza in the heart of the resort.
