    Completed Replacements

Since Summer 2025, elevator replacement work has been completed at the following Expo Line stations:

    • 22nd Street Station

    • Nanaimo Station

    • Stadium–Chinatown Station

    • Waterfront Station

    Expo Line Elevator Replacement Program

Following the successful replacement of Expo Line’s original escalators, we’re continuing to improve your station experience by replacing its aging elevators. Many of Expo Line’s elevators have been moving customers for four decades – that’s enough to make anyone tired!

Your new elevators have 20 per cent more room, making it easier for customers with mobility devices, strollers, bikes, and luggage to get a spot and move through stations faster. They also require less downtime for maintenance, minimizing impacts for customers and staff.

Each elevator will take approximately four months to replace and customers can expect replacement work at up to four stations at once. Stations with two elevators will only have one replaced at a time to keep the other accessible for customers.

    Edmonds Station

    Expected completion: Early June 2026

Edmonds Station elevator with train passing by

Starting March 17, 2026, the elevators at Edmonds Station will be closed for replacement. Since both elevators are needed to travel between platforms, we are replacing both simultaneously to limit impacts for customers. The overhead walkway will remain open throughout construction, but will not be accessible by elevator.

Please allow 15 minutes additional trip time to complete detours as needed.

    Customer Impacts

Customers can still access Waterfront-bound trains as normal throughout the replacement from Platform 1.

Customers who normally board trains headed to King George/Braid/Production Way-University at Platform 2 will need to:

    • Board any train on Platform 1 and disembark at Royal Oak Station; and

    • Transfer across the platform to board trains headed to King George/Braid/Production Way-University.

Customers on King George/Braid/Production Way-University trains who normally disembark at Edmonds Station will need to:

    • Remain on board the train and disembark at 22nd Street;

    • Follow signs to Platform 1 and board any train to get back to Edmonds Station.

    Scott Road Station

    Expected completion: Early June 2026

Elevator on the SkyTrain platform at Scott Road Station.

Starting Feb. 24, 2026, the elevator in Scott Road Station’s east stationhouse, connecting to the primary Park & Ride lot, will be closed for replacement.

The elevator serving the west stationhouse, connecting to the bus loop and Lot B will remain in service throughout construction.

    Customer Impacts

    • Park & Ride customers who require an elevator should temporarily park in Lot B on the west side of Scott Road near the bus loop, where there will be additional accessible parking temporarily available to ensure there are enough for everyone.

    • Customers who normally enter/exit the station’s east side to connect to nearby destinations and require an elevator will need to enter/exit on the west side of the station during this time.

    • Customers with bikes connecting to BC Parkway should exit the west stationhouse and access the Parkway at 127 Ave and Pattullo Place.

While customers connecting to bus will be able to use the west elevator as normal, please be mindful of potential queues and adjust your trip accordingly.
